Who's excited for a train-wreck show by Hole in Orlando?
Back in May, we were hopeful that Courtney Love might bring her reconstituted Hole to Tampa on her new tour. Sadly, the closest she'll get is Orlando; she performs there Saturday night at Hard Rock Live. Click here for tickets.
Is anyone going to this? Because after reading some early tour reports, we kind of feel like we should.
In a review subtly headlined "Courtney Love stumbled, complained and stripped through a bad show at 9:30 Club," the Washington Post reports that Hole's June 27 concert in D.C. was a "complete Courtney Love meltdown ... (but) 10 times more disastrous than that -- we're talking one incomplete song after another, offensive and rambling stage banter, exhibitionism, a mass exodus of paying customers."
Some are calling the Post's evisceration of Hole "the most brutal concert review ever written," but if nothing else, it speaks to the unevenness that's plagued her career entire life tour.
In Atlanta this week, Love went onstage an hour and a half late. She apparently held it together in Nashville. The New York Post called an earlier show "OK, but it was not the kind of dynamic performance that will be remembered for either its goodness or horror. It was a safe, straight gig."
In other words, anything could happen Saturday night when Hole comes to Hard Rock Live. We so very much wish Love and company were coming to Tampa, but alas, Orlando will have to do.
Who's driving up I-4 for the gig? Do you have high hopes?
