Wild 98.7, Smooth Jazz 94.1 switching places on your dial
It's musical chairs on the radio dial. Drew Fleming of CBS Radio's marketing department just gave me a heads-up that starting Wednesday, Aug. 19, WLLD-FM 98.7 ("Hits and Hip-Hop") will be known as WiLD 94.1, and Smooth Jazz WSJT-FM 94.1 will be known as WSJT 98.7. So unless Kenny G records a saxophone cover of Swag Surfin', then you'll want to adjust your presets accordingly, so you can listen to your favorite hip-hop music without skipping a beat.
Here's Fleming's press release:
"Tampa, FL -- WLLD-FM and WSJT-FM will broadcast from their new frequencies starting August 19, 2009 at 5:00PM. Both stations will continue with their respective programming, with WSJT extending Alicia Kaye’s air shift to 2p-7p.
"CBS Radio Tampa Market Manager Don Howe said, “The signal reach for each of these frequencies is better suited for these particular stations, which will lead to a better listening experience for both WSJT and WLLD listeners. WSJT’s new signal will be better adapted for reaching in office listening and the Smooth Jazz lifestyle in the Tampa Bay Metro and the growing Sarasota market. With WLLD’s format attracting a larger mainstream audience, this new signal will help penetrate into the growing areas outside of the Tampa Bay Metropolitan area where many WLLD listeners reside.
"WLLD and WSJT are owned and operated by CBS RADIO, one of the largest major-market radio operators in the United States. A division of CBS Corporation, CBS RADIO operates 140 radio stations, the majority of which are in the nation’s top 50 markets. CBS RADIO also owns and operates WYUU, WRBQ, WQYK FM / AM in Tampa."
