Wye Oak set free show at Vinyl Fever, gig at New World Brewery

Good news for fans of warm 'n' fuzzy indie music: A few hours before their headlining gig at New World Brewery, Baltimore folk-pop duo Wye Oak will play a free in-store set at Vinyl Fever at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday (10/7).

Signed to Merge Records (Arcade Fire, Spoon, M. Ward, Magnetic Fields), Wye Oak has won comparisons to Yo La Tengo for their warm, shoegazey folk stylings.

The duo is in the middle of a nationwide tour with Blitzen Trapper, who decided to skip Tampa Bay en route from Orlando (Tuesday at The Social) to Atlanta (Thursday at The Earl). So in other words, Wye Oak = more awesome than Blitzen Trapper = go see this show.

On Wednesday night, they'll play at 9 p.m. at New World Brewery with Zillionaire and Will Quinlan's new project, The Holy Slow Train. Tickets are $8. Go here for details.
