Yeasayer coming to the State Theatre

Just two days after the disappointing news that The National would be visiting Orlando, not Tampa Bay, this fall, it looks like we're getting an indie-rock consolation prize.

Psychedelic Brooklyn indie troupe Yeasayer are reportedly bringing their fall tour to the State Theatre in St. Petersburg on Oct. 4, according to Pitchfork, Aestheticized and other sources. No word on tickets, but we'll keep an eye out.

Yeasayer -- dubbed "everyone's new favorite band" by New York magazine earlier this year -- are primarily for indie rock nerds who love swirling, challenging avant garde rock. If you enjoyed last summer's Animal Collective show at the State Theatre -- and not everyone did -- then you'll probably be into Yeasayer.

Past tourmates of Beck and MGMT, Yeasayer is making the rounds at all of this summer's major festivals, from Bonnaroo to Reading to Austin City Limits to Lollapalooza. Jay-Z himself checked out their set at Coachella.

We can't compete with Jay-Z in the world of indie rock nerdism, so you can mark us down as Team National instead of Team Yeasayer. But still, this will be a much anticipated show come October.
