Depeche Mode's Tampa concert canceled due to Hurricane Irma

It was going to be the first major public event in Tampa since Hurricane Irma. But now it looks like Depeche Mode won't be performing after all.

Wednesday's Depeche Mode concert at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre has been canceled, the band said in a statement.

"With our partners at Live Nation, we have looked at all options available to avoid canceling the show, including moving the show to an alternate venue, but at this time we cannot guarantee a venue that will be ready and adequately staffed for a safe and successful show, so we have no choice but to cancel," the band stated. "We apologize to all fans who were planning on attending the Tampa show and we send our thoughs for a quick recovery to the people of Tampa and all of Florida."

Depeche Mode did plan to keep its Miami show on Friday, but "will make another announcement later this week as cleanup and recovery continues in Miami and the feasibility of the show is better known."

A post-show DJ set by Depeche Mode's opening act, Warpaint, at the Attic in Ybor City has also been canceled, although Warpaint's headlining show on Thursday at the Social in Orlando is still on.

While it's possible Depeche Mode show could be rescheduled, the band's statement refers to it as a "cancellation," and notes only that refunds are available at point of purchase. We'll update you if the show gets rescheduled. Click here for details.

In the meantime, Saturday's Brad Paisley show at the Amphitheatre is still on. Click here for details on that.
