Desaparecidos cancel headlining set at Wednesday's Big Pre-Fest in Little Ybor

Late-breaking news for anyone headed to Ybor City tonight for Big Pre-Fest in Little Ybor: Desaparecidos, the Nebraska punk band fronted by Bright Eyes singer Conor Oberst, have canceled their headlining gig at the Orpheum.

Desaparecidos were due to take the stage at 12:40 a.m., but late Wednesday, the band announced they were canceling their fall tour, including the Ybor City gig, a show Thursday in Orlando and an appearance at this weekend's Fest in Gainesville, after Oberst fell ill in Jacksonville.

He "was briefly hospitalized due to laryngitis, anxiety and exhaustion," the statement read. "In consultation with his doctors, the band has reluctantly agreed to cancel all scheduled live dates. Conor will be heading home to Omaha to recuperate."

Set times will remain largely the same for Big Pre-Fest. Desaparecidos' two preceding acts will play expanded sets -- mewithoutYou will perform for an hour starting at 10:40 p.m., followed by the Menzingers at midnight.
