Don't Stop St. Pete vs. Plan-B Block Party: Which Antiwarpt Festival replacement is right for you?

Greg Whitaker

The sad end of St. Petersburg's popular Antiwarpt Festival comes to a head this weekend, with two of Antiwarpt's organizing factions each hosting their own local music festival.

Don't Stop St. Pete will take place with more than 60 bands at venues in and around the 600 Block of Central Avenue in downtown St. Pete, featuring headliners Murder By Death, above. The Plan-B Block Party will bring 50 bands to venues around Ybor City, including hip punks the So So Glos.

The organizers of both festivals didn't exactly plan for this weekend to pit the local music scene against itself. It just so happened that they'd already booked many of these bands for what would have been the fourth annual Antiwarpt. When the Antiwarpt group dissolved, all of the bands already had this date open -- so rather than let that hold go to waste, the Tampa group decided to throw another festival there.

That said, both fests do seem to have a lot going for them. For our preview of both Plan-B and Don't Stop St. Pete, click here.
