Eric Paslay, Flo Rida, Cold War Kids, Usher and more in Tampa lineup for College Football Playoff National Championship concerts
Organizers on Wednesday unveiled the star-studded lineup for a free three-day outdoor concert before the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 9 in Tampa.
Eric Paslay, Clare Dunn and the Shadowboxers (Jan. 6); Flo Rida and Cold War Kids (Jan. 7); and Usher, Gavin DeGraw and Jamie N Commons (Jan. 8) will headline the Playoff Playlist Live! festival in Curtis Hixon Park. SNL's Jay Pharoah will host the concert on Sunday. All three concerts are free and open to the public. ESPN will broadcast SportsCenter live from the event.
“It’s an awesome event,” said Bill Hancock, executive director of the College Football Playoff. “Both the first two years of the playoff, people have come away loving Playlist Live.”
And more music is coming. In December, officials will unveil a headliner for a day-of-game tailgate party for ticketholders outside the stadium; last year’s headliner was Eric Church. More private concerts and music-oriented events may pop up around the game in the weeks to come.
From Jan. 6-8, fans can take part in an interactive, family-friendly event called Playoff Fan Central at the Tampa Convention Center. On Jan. 8, the Florida Aquarium will host the culinary bash Taste of the Championship, and Clearwater will host a Gulfside pep rally called the Championship Beach Bash.
“We know how to do these big events as well as anybody in the country,” said Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “I promise you we’re going to put on a show to beat all shows.”
