Experience Hendrix Tour with Buddy Guy, Jonnny Lang, more coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater
For guitar geeks, the Experience Hendrix Tour is like Christmas morning: A stacked lineup of some of the world's best guitarists convening to crank out some of Jimi Hendrix's signature hits.
And once again, Christmas is coming to Clearwater.
Blues greats Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Jonny Lang will headline the 2016 Experience Hendrix Tour, which returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Feb. 25. Joining them are Dweezil Zappa, Black Label Society's Zakk Wylde, Eric Johnson, Keb' Mo', Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble's Chris Layton, Indigenous's Mato Nanji and singers Noah Hunt and Henri Brown. As always, they'll be led by Billy Cox, the bassist for the Jimi Hendrix Experience and Band of Gypsys. Additional guests (which could include Ana Popovic, Doyle Bramhall II or the Slide Brothers) should be announced in the coming weeks.
The best part of the show is watching guitar legends slide into the shoes (as best they can) of the greatest player who ever lived, allowing them to geek out, too. Guy even tossed a little Hendrix into his recent headlining slot at the Clearwater Jazz Holiday.
Tickets to the Ruth Eckerd Hall stop -- the second on the 2016 tour -- start at $49.50 and go on sale Oct. 30. Click here for details.
