Fire breaks out at Ybor City EDM club Amphitheatre
Hands down, the top EDM club in Tampa Bay is the Amphitheatre in Ybor City. Over the years it's hosted sets by top DJs like Skrillex, Porter Robinson, Armin van Buuren and Zedd.
But the Amp is likely going to be quiet for a while, after a major fire ripped through the building on Wednesday evening. According to Tampa Fire Rescue, the fire may have started when a welder attempted to install a bracket for a new disco ball, and sparks ignited the ceiling. One person was hospitalized due to smoke inhalation.
"We thank you for your concern - Everyone is safe. We will update you as soon as we can," the Amphitheatre tweeted Thursday night.
The Amp was supposed to host a concert by Morgan Page on Saturday, and has concerts upcoming by Datsik, Wiwek, Black Tiger Sex Machine and others. The status of those shows is up in the air; we'll update you when we know more.
