Gainesville's Fest announces 'Big Pre-Fest' in Tampa; more than 100 punk bands to take over Ybor City

Gainesville punk music festival Fest has always been a Florida institution, but for the first time, its barrage of beers, beards and bands will spill into Tampa.

The festival will hold Big Pre-Fest in Little Ybor on Oct. 29 and 30. Although Transitions Art Gallery held pre-Fest shows for years, this is the first official Fest event in Tampa.

More than 100 bands will play six Ybor stages including Czar, Crowbar and the Orpheum. Among the acts already confirmed are A Wilheim Scream, Bouncing Souls, Off with Their Heads, Mean Jeans, Masked Intruder, Torche and Tampa's own Wolf-Face, with more to be announced.

Tickets go on sale May 4 and are $60 for Big Pre-Fest in Little Ybor, $140 for both the Tampa event and Fest 12 — which runs an extra day this year from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3. Click here for details.
