Gasparilla Music Festival expanding to two days in 2014
One of the Tampa music world's biggest success stories is getting even bigger.
The Gasparilla Music Festival, which has brought acts like Best Coast (above), Ra Ra Riot, Dawes and Dr. Dog to Curtis Hixon Park over the last two years, will expand to two days for its third incarnation in 2014, taking place March 8 and 9.
After the success of last year's event -- nearly 10,000 fans and 40 bands on four stages in and around Curtis Hixon Park -- the time was right to expand.
"Each year we've gotten bigger and better," the festival's executive director, Ty Rodriguez, said in a statement. "Adding a second day gives GMF a chance to showcase a wider variety of bands, restaurants and children's activities."
The fest on Wednesday announced a special two-day, early-bird general admission ticket for $40 and VIP tickets for $150. Two-day passes will eventually increase to $60, with single-day tickets available closer to the festival. Children 12 and under get in free.
Tickets are available via the festival's website (click here), as well as local outlets like Daddy Kool Records, The Hub, Microgroove and Mojo Books and Music.
