Hangout Festival lineup: Outkast, the Black Keys, the Killers, Jack Johnson and more
Welcome to Festival Wednesday here on Soundcheck! In the past 24 hours we’ve brought brought you the latest details on the Tampa Bay Blues Festival, the Gasparilla Music Festival and new Big Guava Music Festival. Now let’s talk Hangout!
While it’s not technically in Florida, the Hangout Music Festival on the beach in Gulf Shores, Ala., is still one of the biggest and brightest music fests on the Gulf Coast, and with recent headliners like Tom Petty, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and the Foo Fighters, it’s easy to see how it might be worth the drive.
The lineup for this year’s Hangout, May 16-18, was announced Tuesday, and it’s yet another doozy: Outkast, the Black Keys, the Killers, Jack Johnson, Queens of the Stone Age, Pretty Lights, the Avett Brothers, Modest Mouse, the Flaming Lips, Wiz Khalifa, Zedd, Childish Gambino, Tegan and Sara, Conor Oberst, Portugal. The Man, Fitz and the Tantrums, Capital Cities, The 1975, Andrew W.K., Blackberry Smoke, Trombone Shorty, Bastille, Chance the Rapper and many, many more.
Obviously, a lot of these acts are already booked elsewhere in Tampa Bay: Outkast, Tegan and Sara and Chance the Rapper will play Big Guava; the Flaming Lips and Trombone Shorty are at Gasparilla; Queens of the Stone Age, Avett Brothers and Amos Lee are among those with solo shows around town. Still, this lineup gives us hope we might see more concerts by the Black Keys, the Killers or Jack Johnson elsewhere in Florida this spring.
Tickets to the 2014 Hangout Music Festival start at $229 and can be purchased at HangoutMusicFest.com.
