Herb Alpert talks A-list collaborations, 'Whipped Cream & Other Delights' and more
Forget his collaborations with music legends like Sam Cooke, Burt Bacharach and (sort of) Notorious B.I.G. For many, the name Herb Alpert is associated with one thing: The instantly recognizable cover to his 1965 album Whipped Cream & Other Delights.
"It's certainly an iconic cover," says the jazz legend, who plays the Palladium in St. Petersburg on March 2. "At the time I thought we pushed it too far. People were wondering, Is Herb Alpert hanging out under there?! I still have people come up and say how much that cover art meant to them — but they've still never heard the album!"
Alpert will play with wife Lani Hall and Michael Franks on March 2 at the Palladium. Tickets are $59-$75. Click here for details.
