Hey, Pinellas County: Fifth Harmony's new album is called '7/27'
Maybe a trip to Ruth Eckerd Hall last summer really had an impact on Fifth Harmony.
The smash girl group on Friday announced the title of their second album, and it has a distinctly Pinellas County flavor: 7/27. It comes out May 20, and it's preceded by the new single Work From Home, featuring Ty Dolla $ign.
Fifth Harmony does have some Florida ties; Lauren Jauregui is a Miami native, and Camila Cabello spent time there as a child. But is 7/27 really some sort of secret shout-out to Pinellas County's 727 area code, and thus all the Harmonizers in St. Petersburg, Clearwater and beyond?
Not exactly. According to Bustle, July 27, 2012 is actually the date that Cabello, Jauregui, Normani Kordei, Ally Brook Hernandez and Dinah Jane formed Fifth Harmony on The X Factor. But hey, Harmonizers, you can dream! You can imagine this new album is all about you!
The band hasn't released any new tour dates, but its individual members will soon embark on a promotional tour that will hit nearly 100 radio stations over the next couple of months. You can bet at least one of them will be in Tampa Bay, maybe even at Wild 94.1 or Hot 101.5, both of which are headquartered -- you guessed it -- in the 727.
And better luck next time, Tampa. Maybe if you're lucky, Shawn Mendes will name his next album 8/13.
