Ja Rule performing free concert at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg

If you like free music, for the next week and a half, Jannus Live is where you want to be.

On March 20, Colorado electro-pop outfit 3OH!3 will play a concert that's free for USF-St. Petersburg students (the rest of us will have to pay $15). On March 28, 97X and Natty Light are sponsoring a free concert by reggae-rockers Ballyhoo! and Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime.

And on March 29, Queens rapper Ja Rule, known for turn-of-the-millennium party jams Put It On Me, Always on Time and Mesmerize, will throw down in a free party sponsored by Hot 101.5.

Just because it's free doesn't necessarily mean you can get in, though. According to the station, the only way to guarantee entry is with a ticket, and those can only be picked up at ticket drops around the Tampa Bay Area. Look for them at a host of area hotspots, starting at 5 p.m. Friday at the Toasted Monkey, 6100 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach.
