Jane's Addiction, Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington lead Rockwave Festival lineup in Fort Myers
Rarely do we bring you concert news emanating from the musical hotbed of Fort Myers. But if you've got the gas money, this one might be worth the two-hour drive south of Tampa.
The inaugural 96-KROCK Rockwave Festival is set for Sept. 21 at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, and it'll feature a pair of massive alt-rock headliners: Jane's Addiction and Stone Temple Pilots featuring Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington.
Stone Temple Pilots, as you know, have had a very public falling-out with notorious singer Scott Weiland (who is embarking on his own STP tour this summer, including an Aug. 23 date at Orlando's House of Blues). STP retalliated by recruiting Linkin Park's Bennington for a new single and live performance at KROQ's annual Weenie Roast in May. It appears that was more than just a one-off, as the new STP supergroup has a couple of festival performances lined up this year, including this one.
Also on the Rockwave Festival lineup: Filter, Anberlin, Beware of Darkness and more. General admission tickets will go onsale at 10 a.m. July 19, but a linited number of discount tickets will be available next week. On July 16, you can get them for $19.50; on July 17, $24.99; and July 18, $34.99. Click here for details.
