John Mayer coming to the Live Nation Amphitheatre in Tampa
Now that John Mayer has come back, he's finally coming back.
The talkative singer-songwriter, who has been largely sidelined since 2011 while recovering from a series of throat surgeries due to granulomas on his vocal cords, has announced his first major tour in three years -- and it includes a date in Tampa.
Mayer will perform at the Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds on Sept. 7, according to his website. Opening the show will be American Idol's Phillip Phillips, a burgeoning star in his own right, thanks to Mumford-like hit single Home.
Ticket prices haven't been announced, but according to Phillips' website, they'll go onsale at 10 a.m. March 29.
This will be most fans' first chance to hear music from Mayer's latest album, Born and Raised, which also happens to be his least successful album -- although his lack of touring likely had a lot to do with that. He did play two shows in Tampa in 2010 -- one at the Amphitheatre and one at the Forum, with a small acoustic set in between.
