Maroon 5 coming to the Amway Center in Orlando
Maroon 5 are coming back to Florida. But they sure are taking their sweet time about it.
The chart-topping dance-popsters have announced a fall 2016 North American tour that'll bring them to Orlando's Amway Center on Sept. 9, nearly 10 full months from now. Joining them will be Tove Lo and R. City. Tickets are $28.50 and up, and they'll go on sale Monday. Click here.
Curious move, announcing a gig so far in advance. It's not like they're playing stadiums and could use the extra time to help sell tickets. If it's anything like their February show at Tampa's Amalie Arena, it'll sell out hard. Perhaps Maroon 5 has an album cooking that won't be ready until next summer?
Either way, it should be worth the wait. In that February show, Adam Levine and company came out with so much energy and so many hits that we wrote that it felt like an audition to play halftime of the Super Bowl. Lo and behold, two weeks ago, Billboard reported that the band is currently deep in negotiations to play Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, Calif., and may just be the front-runner.
If Maroon 5 does end up getting the Super Bowl gig, this tour won't exactly be striking while the iron is hot. But it'll help guarantee a sellout months in advance. Maybe they'll even add a second show ... in Tampa?
