Newsboys' Duncan Phillips talks Winter Jam, 'Restart,' Christian music's growth and more

The biggest annual Christian tour in the country, Winter Jam, returns to the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Saturday, headlined by noted Christian rockers Newsboys and hip-hop sensation Lecrae. It's a far cry from what "Christian rock" represented in the early '90s.

"When bands first started playing Christian rock back in the day, there was a fan base but there were also a lot of churches picketing, saying the music was of the devil," said Newsboys drummer Duncan Phillips. "Now, most of what we do is pretty well accepted across the board. A lot of Christian artists are even crossing over into mainstream radio."

Winter Jam starts at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Forum; tickets are $10 at the door only. Click here for details on the show.
