What's life really like for an ascendant pop star on the road? On Sunday in Tampa, G-Eazy gave us a look.
The rising rap superstar behind the hit Me, Myself and I was performing at Tampa's MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre alongside Logic, Yo Gotti and others, and he invited Times Pop Music/Culture Critic Jay Cridlin and photographer Loren Elliott backstage to document a few hours of his life on the road, from fan meet-and-greets to pre-show drinks with his crew to a songwriting and recording session on his bus.
"The show, the interviews, the after-parties, the meet-and-greets — it gets repetitive," he said. "On one hand, I travel more than almost anyone. As a musician, you get to. But I don't ever really go anywhere, because everywhere is the same. What's really different about your experience? You're walking across the stage seeing a sea of people."
