Prophets of Rage (members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill) coming to Tampa's MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre
Get ready to Make America Rage Again.
That's the name of a just-announced tour from the new rock-rap supergroup Prophets of Rage, who are hitting the road this election year in an effort to "take the power back" because "dangerous times demand dangerous songs."
Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello, Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk; Public Enemy's Chuck D and Cypress Hill's B-Real will play 35 shows across America this summer, starting in Cleveland during the Republican National Convention, and their trek will bring them to Tampa's MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre on Oct. 1. Tickets start at $30 and are scheduled to go on sale June 10 via Live Nation.
Election season in Florida will be in full swing by Oct. 1, but no matter your politics, this should be a good show. The group recently performed a couple of warm-up shows in Los Angeles, and Spin called the setlist "a gift from the rap gods" -- tons of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill hits, along with new songs and a cover of the Beastie Boys' No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn.
"This historical moment demands a radical soundtrack," Prophets of Rage write on their website, "and that’s what we intend to provide."
