UPDATE: Ringo Starr coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater
It's not every day a Beatle announces a concert in your midst. And while we're still waiting for one of those legendary, career-spanning, three-hour shows from Paul McCartney, this'll have to do for now: Ringo Starr is bringing his All-Starr Band back to Clearwater.
According to USA Today, the latest incarnation of Starr's classic rock revue will play Ruth Eckerd Hall on Oct. 23. (The venue itself briefly listed the event on its website Thursday, with tickets priced at $56-$153, but we expect a more official announcement, along with an on-sale date, soon.)
According to USA Today, this version of the All-Starr Band will feature Mr. Mister's Richard Page, Todd Rundgren, Santana's Gregg Rolie, Toto's Steve Lukather, drummer Gregg Bissonette and and multi-instrumentalist Warren Ham.
These concerts take a round-robin format, with each artist contributing a few of his own hits. That means that in addition to hearing Starr sing the Beatles' Yellow Submarine and With a Little Help From My Friends, you'll hear Page sing Mr. Mister's Broken Wings and Kyrie, Rolie singing Santana's Black Magic Woman and Oye Como Va, Rundgren singing Love Is the Answer and Bang the Drum All Day, and Lukather singing Hold the Line and Africa. There are usually some covers and other surprises thrown in, too. They're fun shows; we went to one in 2010. Click here for our review.
We'll keep you posted on ticket details; in the meantime, click here.
