Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings coming to the State Theatre in St. Petersburg
This summer's news that singer Sharon Jones was suffering from cancer was a blow to fans of throwback soul and live music in general. Her band, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, are one of the best live acts on the circuit, and anything that might hinder Jones' livelihood or her band's ability to perform is cause for major concern.
But after having a tumor removed from her bile duct, Jones has seemingly progressed quite well. The band will release a new album, Give The People What They Want, in January. And they've just booked a spring tour that'll bring them back to Tampa Bay for the first time since 2011.
Jones and the Dap-Kings will perform at the State Theatre on Feb. 20. Tickets are $26.50-$30, and they'll go on sale Nov. 15. It's a dynamite opportunity to see a killer live act in truly close quarters, so we wouldn't be surprised to see this one sell out. Click here for details.
