Skrillex coming to Hogan's Beach in Tampa
Hulk Hogan's still got some muscle in those 24-inch pythons, and he's flexing it all over Tampa Bay's electronic music scene.
His Tampa bar and restaurant, Hogan's Beach, just scored the EDM booking of the year, as it was announced Wednesday that megastar DJ-producer Skrillex will bring his fall tour there on Oct. 28. GTA, Tchami and Vindata are also on the bill. Tickets go on sale to the public Aug. 15, but you might want to hop on an American Express pre-sale that starts Thursday, because this one will sell out like lightning.
This will be Skrillex's first Tampa Bay concert since a late 2011 stop at the Ritz Ybor, a show that sold out months in advance. Since then, he's played some of the biggest stages in the world, headlining massive festivals and this summer leading a Bonnaroo superjam with Lauryn Hill, A$AP Ferg, Janelle Monae, Zedd, the Doors' Robby Krieger, Cage the Elephant's Matt Shultz and many more.
Hogan's Beach has been making inroads as one of Tampa's top party spots, having hosted DJs like Cedric Gervais and Zeds Dead and artists like Lil Jon. But they're really going for it this fall. Skrillex is only the latest in a string of announcements that includes Cash Cash (Aug. 24), Laidback Luke (Aug. 31), the Chainsmokers (Sept. 21) and Gareth Emery (Oct. 19). Maybe it helps that Hogan works out to dubstep, as he recently told tbt*.
