SoundBytes: 98 Rockfest, Manchester Orchestra, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and more
-- Manchester Orchestra seem to love Tampa Bay -- they just played 97X Next Big Thing in December -- so it's no surprise they're coming back to town in April. The alt-prog-rock heroes will play the Ritz Ybor on April 17 alongside Balance and Composure and Kevin Devine and the Goddamn Band. Tickets are $17-$20. Click here.
-- The lineup for this year's 98 Rockfest won't be announced until Feb. 1, but early bird tickets to the event -- which takes place April 25 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum -- are on sale now, starting at $25. The station is introducing some interesting new wrinkles this year, including an intimate acoustic performance and meet-and-greet photo sessions with some of the artists. Click here and here for details.
-- House concerts are all the rage these days, but rarely are the artists who play them as notable as Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Singer Alec Ounsworth of the once-buzzy alt-rockers is embarking on a solo, un-amplified living room tour, and it has a stop in Tampa on Feb. 18. The location is a secret until you purchase your ticket for $20. Click here.
-- The Psychedelic Furs will return to the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater on March 25. Tickets are $35-$65, and they'll go on sale Saturday. Click here.
-- The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band will perform at Clearwater's Capitol Theatre on March 6. Tickets are $38-$60. Click here.
-- Boogie-rock pioneers NRBQ are returning to Skipper's Smokehouse on March 7. Tickets are $12-$15. Click here.
