SoundBytes: Talib Kweli, Mobb Deep, the Beach Boys and more



-- Check it out: The good folks at Equal Vision Records sent us a 2014, and look who's sharing the month of October? Tampa's own Set It Off and Tallhart!

-- Busch Gardens has announced the first act of its 2014 Bands, Brew & BBQ series, which runs Feb. 8 through March 9: The Beach Boys (presumably the Love-led, Wilson-free version) will play Gwazi Park on Feb. 15. Click here for details.

-- Kenny Vance and the Planotones had to postpone a concert from November to Jan. 8 due to illness. Now they've postponed that date, too. Vance and the Planotones will come back to the Palladium sometime this summer, and existing tickets will be honored on the new date.

-- East Coast hip-hop icon Talib Kweli, recently seen opening for Macklemore and Ryan Lewis at the USF Sun Dome, is performing at Crowbar on Jan. 25 alongside a slew of Tampa's favorite rappers, including Dynasty, Jinx and the Villanz. Tickets are $15-$20. Click here.

-- Speaking of East Coast hip-hop heroes: Mobb Deep are coming to Crowbar on April 4. Tickets are $18 and up. Click here.

-- Vintage Trouble, Robert Cray, Savoy Brown and Ana Popovic are among the headliners of this year's Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival, Feb. 15-16 at Coachman Park. Tickets are $25 and up. Click here for details.

-- Steve Martin's bluegrass backup, the Steep Canyon Rangers, are coming to Skipper's Smokehouse on Feb. 1. Tickets are $15. Click here.

-- Disney World's annual Night of Joy is one of the biggest Christian music events in the country, and judging by this year's just-announced lineup, this year won't be any different. Hillsong United, Chris Tomlin and Matthew West will headline Sept. 5, and Skillet, Casting Crowns and MercyMe will lead the way on Sept. 6. Click here for details.

--In case you missed it, one of the biggest events in Tampa's history, the 2014 International Indian Film Academy's annual awards ceremony -- the so-called "Bollywood Oscars" -- has been moved to April 26 at Raymond James Stadium. Several concerts will take place the week and weekend of the event, most notably an "IIFA Rocks" concert and party on April 24 at the USF Sun Dome. Click here for details.
