St. Pete Pride's opening concert: Low turnout, but lots of spirit
The St. Pete Pride kickoff concert with Deborah Cox on Friday night drew significantly fewer people than organizers expected.
The Pride festival comes two weeks after a gunman walked into the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando and killed 49 people and wounded scores more in the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
But many of those who did show were sure of their reasons why.
"I come out every Pride," said Pamela Lleva, 48, of St. Petersburg. "This year is more special, though, because we have to show we aren't afraid."
