Steely Dan, Steve Winwood coming to MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa
Steely Dan is coming back, jack, to do it again.
The Dan have announced plans for their 2016 "The Dan Who Knew Too Much" summer tour, and it includes a concert on June 30 at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa. And while Walter Becker and Donald Fagen aren't exactly strangers to these parts -- they just played the Amp last summer -- it includes an opening set by a guy whose shows here are way too rare: Steve Winwood.
UPDATE: Tickets will cost $39 and up and go on sale March 4. Click here.
Any chance to hear the Dan's vast catalog of pristine, fusion-y jazz-rock hits -- Josie, Reelin' In the Years, Peg, Rikki Don't Lose That Number -- is a good one. But the addition of Winwood to the bill pushes this over the top.
The former Traffic, Blind Faith and Spencer Davis Group singer and keyboardist hasn't played here often in recent years, most recently opening for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Amalie Arena in 2014. His voice still sounds as massive as ever, whether he's dipping into the catalog for oldies like Gimme Some Lovin' or Dear Mr. Fantasy, or playing his own solo hits like Higher Love. His set is one not to miss.
