Steve Martin, Martin Short, Smokey Robinson, Kenny Rogers, more coming to the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg



Well, Happy Monday from the Mahaffey Theater! The St. Pete venue decided to brighten up your week with a massive announcement of concerts, comedy shows and stage and special events, all coming to the theater starting in September.

Among the highlights: A joint conversation and Q&A by Steve Martin and Martin Short on Sept. 7; a motivational afternoon led by comic-turned-mogul Steve Harvey on Oct. 18; a Christmas show by Kenny Rogers on Nov. 30; a holiday spectacular featuring Peabo Bryson, Dreamgirls' Jennifer Holliday, Ruben Studdard and Taylor Dayne on Dec. 9; a concert by soul legend Smokey Robinson on April 12; and a live, interactive cooking presentation by Dinner: Impossible Chef Robert Irvine on April 19. Concerts by Patti LaBelle, Terry Fator, Ramsey Lewis and Philip Bailey and more are also in the works.

The Mahaffey also announced a new, limited-time-only ticket package program. While each of the newly announced shows will go on sale to members on July 15, and public tickets won't go on sale until Aug. 1, a new "Three For Me" program will allow guests to purchase tickets to three mix-and-match shows starting July 25. Three For Me tickets will only be available by phone at (727) 893-7832, and only for a limited time.

Here's a rundown of all the newly announced events, by category:

MUSIC: Crossover jazz act Pieces of a Dream is the first new concert on Oct. 24 ($30 and up), followed by soul diva Patti LaBelle on Nov. 16 ($59.50 and up). Kenny Rogers will perform holiday songs plus hits like The Gambler and Lady on Nov. 30 ($39 and up), while the next week, we'll get a holiday show by the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra on Dec. 7 ($29.50 and up) and a show called "Colors of Christmas," with Peabo Bryson, Jennifer Holliday, Ruben Studdard and Taylor Dayne, on Dec. 9 ($49.50 and up). The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra performs on Jan. 18 ($35 and up). Jazz pianist Ramsey Lewis and Earth Wind and Fire's Philip Bailey team up on Feb. 24 ($49.50 and up), and soul legend Smokey Robinson returns on April 12 ($59.50 and up). Additionally, look for three big tribute shows: Arrival: The Music of ABBA on Oct. 24 ($30 and up); the Pink Floyd Experience on March 6 ($35 and up) and 1964... The Tribute on March 13 ($37.50 and up).

CCOMEDY: On Sept. 7, Steve Martin and Martin Short will sing, play music and conduct an interview-style stage show; tickets start at $89.50. Steve Harvey's "Act Like a Success" event features motivational speakers Lisa Nichols and Patrice Washington; tickets start at $64.75. America's Got Talent ventriloquist Terry Fator returns on Nov. 23. The Popovich Comedy Pet Theater arrives on Jan. 18; tickets start at $22.50. And on Feb. 21, Mad About You star Paul Reiser will perform at the Palladium Theater in a show presented by the Mahaffey; tickets to that one start at $29.

MORE: The family-friendly dance show Ballroom with a Twist, choreographed by Dancing with the Stars' Louis van Amstel, arrives on Jan. 28 ($39.50 and up), with promised performances by "former American Idol contestants." A popular PBS kids' show comes to life in Wild Kratts Live on Feb. 15 ($22.50 and up), and a magical spectacular arrives on Feb. 20 with Masters of Illusion: Believe the Impossible ($22 and up). Finally, Chef Robert Irvine, a familar face in these parts (for reasons positive and negative), will deliver a live cooking demo on April 19 (tickets start at $30).
