Tampa Bay Blues Festival lineup: Buddy Guy, Michael McDonald, Irma Thomas, Blind Boys of Alabama coming to Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg
Buddy Guy, Michael McDonald, Irma Thomas, the Blind Boys of Alabama and James Hunter are the biggest names booked for this year’s 20th annual fest, April 11-13 at Vinoy Waterfront Park in St. Petersburg. Shemekia Copeland, Coco Montoya, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and Tommy Castro and The Painkillers are among the other notables on the bill.
Tickets to this year’s festival are $40-$50 per day ($175-$200 VIP); three-day tickets are $100-$375. Click here to get them.
This year, the Blues Fest will stage a kickoff party on Thursday, April 10, at the Palladium, featuring a screening of the documentary Killer B3, about the history of the Hammond B3 organ; followed by a concert by B3 organists Tony Monaco and Shawn Brown.
And as in years past, there will also be after shows at the Palladium, with Coco Montoya, Selwyn Birchwood and Matt Schofield taking the stage on April 11; and Nikki Hill, Tommy Castro and the Painkillers and Lil’ Ed and the Blues Imperials on April 12. Tickets to both after shows are $15-$20.
