Tim Allen coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater
Tim Allen has played Buzz Lightyear, Santa Claus and Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor for so long that it's easy to forget he was once one of the biggest stand-up comics in America.
Since the late '80s, it's not like he stopped doing stand-up completely -- but he certainly hasn't toured with it quite like peers such as Jerry Seinfeld and Dennis Miller. Why should he? Allen got an insanely lucrative TV deal for Home Improvement, followed it up with some gigantic film franchises (Toy Story, Santa Claus) and a few big hits in between (Galaxy Quest, Wild Hogs). And while his new sitcom, Last Man Standing, isn't the cultural juggernaut that Home Improvment was, it still has some critics -- including those at the hipster-friendly A.V. Club -- paying attention.
So fans of Allen's will want to line up when the actor and comic comes to Ruth Eckerd Hall for a night of old-school stand-up on July 25. Tickets are $49-$115, and they'll go onsale this Saturday. Click here for details.
And in the meantime, practice your grunting.
