Twenty One Pilots coming to Amalie Arena in Tampa
It's official: Twenty One Pilots have reached the biggest of the big time. They're playing arenas across America, and one of them is in Tampa.
The wildly popular Ohio alt-pop duo will perform at Amalie Arena next Feb. 28, they announced today. If you think that sounds like a long way off, you're not wrong -- they already have a show scheduled for Orlando on July 1. But that one's getting close to sold out, and moreover, the Tampa show looks like their only Florida date so far in 2017. So if you want to go, you'd better not wait too long on tickets.
Twenty One Pilots have exploded in popularity the last two years, particularly in the wake of their 2015 album Blurryface, which yielded the hits Stressed Out and Tear In My Heart. As we wrote in our review of December's 97X Next Big Thing, which they headlined: "They’re a hard act to categorize, blending elements of piano pop, hip-hop and white-boy reggae into a style that feels almost like theater. But fans have latched onto Tyler Joseph’s intense and open odes to neurosis and anxiety, Josh Dun’s animalistic drumming, and performances that feature superhero feats of high-flying parkour." Sounds fun, right?
Tickets to the Tampa show will go on sale Friday for $39 and up. Click here for details.
