Twenty One Pilots coming to the Ritz Ybor in Tampa
This pretty much seals it: 2013 is the year Twenty One Pilots took over Tampa Bay.
It actually began in late 2012, when the Ohio alt-pop duo opened 97X Next Big Thing in Vinoy Park. Three months later, they sold out the State Theatre in St. Pete. In May, they played the 97X Backyard BBQ. On Sept. 29, they'll open for Fall Out Boy at the USF Sun Dome. And soon, they'll be back again to headline the Ritz Ybor.
The Ohio group, whose album Vessel spawned the radio single Holding On to You and led to an MTV Video Music Award nomination, will play the Ritz on Nov. 21, with Robert DeLong and Sirah opening. Tickets are $19-$22, and they'll go on sale Friday. Click here.
It's amazing Twenty One Pilots wasn't booked for this year's 97X Next Big Thing, considering how much they apparently love Tampa Bay. But with five local shows in a 12-month span, we wouldn't put it past them to book one more show before New Year's.
