Ultra 2014 lineup: Avicii, Armin Van Buuren, Zedd, Kaskade, Tiesto, Hardwell, M.I.A., coming to Miami
The unveiling of each year's Ultra Music Festival lineup is always a big deal, because if it's not the top electronic music festival in the world, it's certainly close. Then again, it's not like it's a surprise, because every year Ultra books pretty much every DJ or EDM-tinged act you've ever heard of, meaning you could have filled out about 90 percent of the poster simply by guessing.
This year's initial Ultra lineup was announced Tuesday, and the poster can barely contain all the boldfaced names at the top. Among your Phase 1 DJ headliners: Avicii (above), Armin Van Buuren, Kaskade, Carl Cox, David Guetta, Diplo, Hardwell, Kaskade, Krewella, Tiesto and Zedd. No, they didn't get Swedish House Mafia -- who, incidentally, played their final-ever show at last year's Ultra -- but they did get Steve Angello and Alesso, so they're only one member away from a kinda-sorta reunion.
Among the live headliners: M.I.A., MGMT, Basement Jaxx, Cut Copy, Pusha T, Glitch Mob, Empire of the Sun, Chase and Status and more. And even further down the bill are names that could headline lesser EDM festivals on their own -- Dillon Francis, Datsik, Nervo, Waka Flocka Flame, Paul van Dyk ... it never ends. And keep in mind, this is only Phase 1, so if you were holding out hope for Daft Punk or Skrillex, it could still happen.
Ultra 2014 is March 28-30 in Miami; general admission tickets start at $399.95. Click here for all the details on Ultra 2014.
