Wanee Festival lineup: Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Trey Anastasio Band and more
We thought last week was festival announcement week, what with updates flowing in on the Gasparilla Music Festival, Tampa Bay Blues Festival, Hangout Music Festival and Tampa's sparkly new Big Guava Music Festival.
But the Wanee Festival moves at its own pace. And no jam-band fan in their right mind would complain about waiting a few days for a lineup like this.
Wanee, which takes place April April 10-12 at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, features a jaw-dropping slate of jam and southern rock bands, headlined by the Allman Brothers Band, who are celebrating their 45th year in existence, as well as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Trey Anastasio Band, Umphrey's McGee, Ziggy Marley, Blues Traveler, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Moe., Hot Tuna, Rusted Root, Blind Boys of Alabama, Walter Trout and a special Led Zeppelin set by Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk.
But for Allman Brothers Band fans, this is an especially amazing lineup, Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes recently announced they would be leaving the group at the end of 2014 to focus on their solo projects -- and both of those solo projects, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Gov't Mule, will also be at Wanee 2014. So will Jaimo's Jasssz Band, led by Allmans drummer Jaimoe Johanson. Throw in two sets by the Allmans, on Friday and Saturday nights, and the only thing we're missing at this point is a Dickey Betts cameo, and frankly, we wouldn't put it past them at this point.
Tickets to Wanee 2014 start at $195 plus service fees. For more on the full lineup, or to get tickets, click here.
