'Weird Al' Yankovic coming to the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg
Get ready to get weird. Again.
"Weird Al' Yankovic is returning to Tampa Bay for one more stop on his Mandatory Fun World Tour. The pop song parodist will kick off the tour's second leg at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg on June 3, he announced Tuesday. Tickets are $37.50 and up, and they go on sale Friday. Click here.
The date comes less than a year after Yankovic played a sold-out show at Ruth Eckerd Hall, proving there's plenty of demand in this market for hits like Eat It, White & Nerdy and Smells Like Nirvana.
But then, isn't Weird Al always in demand? His 2014 album Mandatory Fun, featuring Handy (a parody of Iggy Azalea's Fancy and Foil (Lorde's Royals) won a Grammy for Best Comedy Album, and also happened to be Yankovic's first-ever No. 1 album. He was just announced as the new bandleader for IFC's Comedy Bang! Bang!, new episodes of which will premiere this spring.
