ZZ Top postpone concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall due to injury
Start packing up yet another get-well basket for ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill.
ZZ Top has suspended a number of upcoming tour dates, including an April 29 stop at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, after Hill tripped and dislocated his shoulder before a recent performance in Lubbock, Texas.
"My physicians told me that this type of injury is usually associated with contact sports," Hill said in a statement. "I'm not sure bass-playing qualifies as such but they're doing their best to get me back in the game as soon as possible. Thanks to everyone for all the good wishes we've received. We're determined to enjoy a speedy recovery and see you soon!"
It's the second time a local ZZ Top show has been scrapped due to an injury on Hill's part. A fall 2014 concert with Jeff Beck at Tampa's MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre was postponed once, then twice, after Hill suffered a knee injury aboard the band's tour bus.
The new date for Ruth Eckerd Hall is Nov. 4. Tickets purchased for the April 29 show will be honored. Call Ruth Eckerd Hall's box office at (727) 791-7400 with questions, or click here for details.
