Don't tell the almost 100 million tourists that come every year but Florida's 'near the bottom of the barrel'



The Times' Steve Bousquet:

A new report released by the LeRoy Collins Institute Thursday concludes that Florida is falling behind not only the rest of the country but also the South in key areas, from teacher salaries to high-wage jobs to adequate roads. "The news is grim," it says.

Right now I'm tied up structuring a story that's due tomorrow and is set to run in the March Floridian but I can't wait to dig into all 120 pages.
