What Joyce Carol Oates thinks about the Curtis Reeves Wesley Chapel movie theater murder

Told through four tweets:

Recent Florida shooting by 71-year-old retired policeman suggests that gun-toting individuals seem to seek victims to "punish." But without guns, their aggressive behavior would result in their getting beaten badly; thus, aggression not encouraged. Is this hard to figure? A bazooka is more effective than a (smaller) "concealed" weapon because, when you mingle with people, you are treated with respect. Cowards will back off -- fast! -- from bazooka-wielding citizens. True, you get respect, but it is a little boring, too.

The wife of the man the ex-cop shot and killed because of texting and popcorn is of course devastated.
