Links for Nov. 1 Times: Right by Miles
In a previous St. Petersburg Times story, Right by Miles, we told readers about
the accident involving a Polk County sheriff's deputy in which the Polk
Sheriff's Office concluded that the deputy played no role.
The story suggested he might well
have actually caused the accident. At the time, we knew about photos of
the accident that supposedly showed it was hit and knocked
off the road. We obtained those photos, showed them to
indepedent forensic accident investigators, who tell us that the pictures
are a slam dunk: the car was hit. It did not run off the road by
itself, as the Polk Sheriff's Office has always maintained, rather, it's deputy hit
it.
