Times column on Sotomayor hearings creating Twitter buzz
St. Petersburg Times TV/media critc Eric Deggans blogged this morning about his outrage over the debate during the Sonia Sotomayor confirmation hearings and its gathering buzz in the Twitter world.
"Never have I wanted more to throw a brick through the screen of my television," he writes — and this from a guy who's watched a lot of bad television. "Watching Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor sit stoically through a succession of white men, perched at the head of the whitest, malest, most powerful political institution in the country -- the U.S. Senate -- telling a Latina from a New York housing project that her Hispanic heritage should mean nothing in her work as a judge, was heartbreaking."
Deggans' post has gotten lots of retweets in the last couple hours. If you like the column, retweet it using the hashtag #deggans.
