Links from the Times for Sept. 17: Acorn draws legislative ire, health care reform
The community organizing group known as ACORN is feeling the heat. On Monday, the U.S. Senate voted to bar the group from competing for federal money and the Census Bureau on Friday severed ties with the group. Republicans want the IRS to challenge its nonprofit status and are calling for federal investigations. One of the videos that started it all is from James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles, who say they posed as a pimp and a prostitute seeking advice from ACORN on how to set up a brothel. See the original video and judge for yourself.
