Why are so many Pinellas residents divorced?
Newly
released census figures show that Pinellas County has one of the nation's highest divorce rates. In all, three of the top 10 counties the divorced call home are in Florida --- Monroe County in South Florida,
rural Putnam County and Pinellas.
The figures show that while the number of unmarried people
continued its 10-year climb, the ranks of married people in the United
States rose by nearly 6 million last year, bucking a decade-long
decline. The number of divorced people rose, but only slightly.
The Census Bureau offers only the numbers, but we'd like to get an idea of why the rate is so high here. What's your take: Are recently divorced people moving here or getting divorced soon after they arrive?
