R.E.M. gives Dunedin's 'Shiny Happy People' lip dub an online shout-out

From Thursday's Times: Since October, business owners and citizens from around Dunedin have been planning a massive lip dub video to the R.E.M. song Shiny Happy People, all designed to showcase the city's undeniable good-time vibes. More than 500 people turned out to dance and (pretend to) sing on Dunedin's Main Street. The so-called "Funedin LipDub" came out on Jan. 29, and almost immediately attracted attention from an unlikely source: R.E.M. themselves, who linked to the video on their news page, calling it "a really fun video to ward off the winter blahs." Rescued animals up for adoption

On Feb. 10, authorities seized 22 dogs and several other animals from Cynthia Cuervo, of Town 'N Country, due to the deplorable conditions of her home. Cuervo was under court order not to be in possession of any animals, due to past instances of abuse. The dogs, as well as a cat, rabbit and birds seized from Cuervo are available for adoption through Hillsborough County Animal Services. The $200 fee, which includes neutering and spaying, microchipping, vaccinations and a health check, is slightly higher than normal, but the funds will help pay for rehabilitation for dogs seized from the property that need medical treatment. See a gallery of available animals here.
