The Humane Society of Tampa Bay shares a sad tale of a beagle, Cadence, who was brought to the shelter with a chain embedded in its neck. A veterinarian removed the chain, but then later discovered that a rubber band also was embedded under her skin.

"The band was extracted and the dog is now working on getting better and enjoying a comfortable life!" writes Krissi Cuccia, adoption counselor at the shelter.
