That's the question a number of Times readers had after seeing Monday's front page picture of pop star Britney Spears (accompanying a review of Brit's concert at the St. Pete Times Forum).

George Garcia of Tarpon Springs expressed his disappointment in a letter published on It's Your Times: "I remember when you were a serious newspaper. I have no problem putting her in the entertainment section and I understand that her activities are appealing to a segment of your readership but it seems totally inappropriate that she supercedes all of the other news of the day."

It's Your Times member Wise Merlin joined the discussion:

"Newspapers are going after the lowest common denominator. Sadly, The St. Petersburg Times is no exception," he wrote.
