Buco needs a home

Buco Nadine of Florida Big Dog Rescue in Tampa submitted this photo of Trabuco (Buco), who needs a foster or permanent home as soon as possible.

Read all the details about Buco below, then e-mail [email protected] if interested in adopting:

He is a 1 1/2 - 2 yr MN Dogue de Bordeaux or French Mastiff.  Generalized demodicosis (mange - non-contagious) that is resolving with his weekly benzoyl peroxide baths, antibiotics and topical Promeris. He is mildly HW positive but has no outward evidence of his mild disease. This is treatable and it is unlikely that he will have any lasting problems.

He may chase cats. Buco is a big powerful puppy. He is likely best suited to a home without young children or small animals. He does challenge male dogs so might be best as a single dog or with a sturdy, playful, larger female dog. He is strong and strong-willed and powerful but also very sweet and walks well on a leash.

He has a very intelligent and playful personality. He knows how to sit and shake a paw. Buco is looking for immediate placement - foster or forever home. During his heartworm treatment he will need to be kept quiet.

He is currently being fostered in Tampa. If he remains local, his heartworm treatment will be facilitated and will be absorbed somewhat by his re-homing fee. Buco has a little ways to go but he is a young boy and will have many years to come. He walks as if he has great hips and bone structure. This is a rare and highly intelligent breed of dog that make exceptional family pets.

He does drool, just like Turner of Turner and Hooch so if this bothers you, he is not the best choice for you.

He is a very special boy that needs an understanding and committed foster or forever home. Only exceptional fosters or forever homes will be considered. Vet references and home visit required.
