The economy is getting more woeful by the day. People are struggling to keep their homes from foreclosure. Charities are watching their donations shrivel.
But some more fortunate members of society, having grown accustomed to free spending when the market was flush and property values were rising, are having a hard time trimming the fat from their family budgets.
