Times staff writer Ben Montgomery is an adventurous sort. And somewhat enamored of an essay by Henry David Thoreau called "Walking," which appeared in Atlantic magazine a month after the author's death in 1862. On this 150th anniversary of that essay, he decided to see if he could walk everywhere for a week, emulating Thoreau's aspirations. Follow along as we document his journey.
